Atlantic Health BioBank
The Atlantic Health BioBank connects clinical researchers all over the country with banked tissues and other biospecimens to facilitate the expansion of medical knowledge and to drive new discoveries.
Our biobank partners with the Southern Division of the Cooperative Human Tissue Network (CHTN), a National Cancer Institute (NCI) grant-funded resource established in 1987 to increase access by academic and private researchers to human tissue and processing services to accelerate the pace of cancer research.
Collection Process
Often, after a medical or surgical procedure, biological material remains. This material may be normal or abnormal, and may include:
- Tissues
- Blood and blood components
- Genetic material such as DNA
Our lab services team meticulously collects and stores this material at the appropriate temperature for the specimen. Additionally, we de-identify it with the patient. Once stored, it is carefully preserved - until distributed for use in medical research - to:
- Atlantic Center for Research
- Academic institutions
- Pharmaceutical and biotech companies
Our services
Research scientists and other clinical providers may be interested in learning more about some of our biobank services such as:
- Sample Processing including but not limited to serum, plasma, whole blood, urine, DNA, RNA, PBMC, FFPE/slides-blocks and research biomaterials
- De-identified tissues
- Histological assessments including special stains and IHC
