Pediatric neurology
We offer diagnostic tests and screenings to identify the cause of neurological symptoms, personalized treatment for brain and spinal cord conditions and support resources centered on what families need, when they need it.
Conditions we treat
When a child has frequent headaches, seizures or a short attention span it could be the sign of a problem with his or her nervous system. At Atlantic Health, our pediatric neurologists provide comprehensive care for these patients and educate parents on how to successfully manage their child’s disease.
- Brain and spine tumors – Our neuro-oncology program provides radiation treatments and neurosurgery when necessary.
- Cerebral palsy
- Pediatric concussions – Our Pediatric Concussion Program uses ImPACT™ testing to determine when a child can safely resume activities.
- Pediatric epilepsy – Our Pediatric Epilepsy Program is a Level 4 epilepsy center offering electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring to diagnose seizures and formulate treatment plans.
- Pediatric headaches – Our Pediatric Headache Program provides specialized care for migraines and chronic headache disorders.
- Hydrocephalus and congenital anomalies of the brain
- Neurological complications due to premature birth
- Neuromuscular disorders – We help children improve mobility and maintain muscle function through our Pediatric Neuromuscular Program.
- Spina bifida.
- Spinal cord injuries, spinal fusions and tethered spinal cord
We have medical specialists who provide pediatric care specific to your child’s needs while respecting every family’s values. Physician services are provided through Atlantic Medical Group and are on staff at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.
Family-centered care
Our family-centered approach ensures the complex nature of neurological conditions is explained to parents so they fully understand and can become an integral part of the care team. Pediatric neurologists also collaborate with pediatricians and specialists across Atlantic Health to help patients live lives as close to normal as possible.
Child Development and Autism Center
Children with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorders and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD) are treated at our Child Development Center.
Patient story
"Many of Tyler’s stays at Goryeb involved multiple days of EEGs, MRIs, CT scans and many other tests. Having the kindness and attention of the staff really helped make each stay not only bearable, but a positive experience."
