Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Perinatal Bereavement Program

When a baby dies, family and friends can help support and comfort you, but you may need professional help to manage your pain. Atlantic Health System's Bereavement Program for Pregnancy and Infant Loss is staffed by medical professionals with perinatal bereavement counseling training.

Overlook Medical Center and Newton Medical Center also offer a free Perinatal Loss Support Group for parents who have experienced similar pain and who can help one another adjust to life without their expected child. A trained perinatal bereavement counselor facilitates the support group. Parents are welcome to come as often as needed and are free to end their participation whenever they are ready.

For more information about the group at Overlook Medical Center, call 908-522-3659; for the group at Newton Medical Center, call 973-940-8140.
