Asthma is a chronic condition characterized by the swelling and narrowing of the airways, which leads to wheezing, shortness of breath and cough. These symptoms — also known as an asthma attack — are often triggered by common substances, such as pollen, pet dander, dust mites and mold, among others.
Although asthma cannot be cured, the Respiratory Therapy Department can help patients properly manage it.
