Barbara Minkowitz, MD

Barbara Minkowitz, MD, is a fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon, board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. She practices all aspects of pediatric orthopedics with an emphasis on bone health and limb alignment including posture. She is an expert on vitamin D and its association to pediatric fractures, a topic on which she has given local and national talks, and has taught instructional courses on the topic to other orthopedists at the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons.

In her 30 years in practice she has published both clinical and academic papers for which she has received international, national and regional awards. Dr. Minkowitz has also received research grants for various studies through the years on topics including infection, pediatric fractures, vitamin D deficiency and bone health. She has expertise in trauma and sports injuries, osteomyelitis, joint infections, foot deformities such as clubfeet, scoliosis, hip dysplasia, and growing pains, as well as pain at knee, hip or ankle, etc. She is very interested in limb alignment and has a robust surgical practice for patients that need guided growth for knock knees, and bow legs as well as those with in toeing and out toeing due to rotational deformities of the legs.

After earning her medical degree at New York Medical College, Valhalla, NY, Dr. Minkowitz performed her orthopedic residency at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn, NY. She completed her pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Minkowitz holds staff positions at Morristown and Overlook Medical Centers. She is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
