EmailMORRISTOWN, NJ – FEBRUARY 25, 2026 – Atlantic Health Morristown Medical Center and Atlantic Health Overlook Medical Center have been named among the world’s best hospitals according to Newsweek for the eighth consecutive year. Both hospitals were also named “All-Time Champions” for earning a spot on the list every year the award ranking has been published.
World’s Best Hospitals 2026 is compiled by Newsweek in partnership with market and consumer data analytics company Statista Inc. Along with celebrating these two Atlantic Health hospitals for their quality, reputation and expeirence, Newsweek included both on the list of Best in Infection Prevention. This list celebrates U.S. hospitals that performed above the nationwide level based on CDC infection measures and Leapfrog hand hygiene criteria.

More than 2,500 hospitals were evaluated for this eighth edition of the list, including 420 hospitals in the United States. Of the US hospitals ranked by Newsweek, Atlantic Health Morristown is ranked 53 – the highest ranking of any New Jersey hospital, and Atlantic Health Overlook is ranked 186. These two Atlantic Health medical centers join the Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins among others on this prestigious list.
The World’s Best Hospitals 2026 ranking highlights leading hospitals across 32 countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Israel, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States of America. The countries were selected based on multiple comparability factors, such as standard of living/life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals, and data availability.
Newsweek and Statista awarded the best hospitals based on four data sources:
- Recommendations from Medical Experts: Online survey among tens of thousands of doctors, health care professionals, and hospital managers in 32 countries
- Results from Patient Surveys: Survey of patient satisfaction with hospitalization
- Hospital Quality Metrics: Medical indicators e.g., data on quality of care for treatments, hygiene measures, patient safety, and waiting times.
- Statista PROMs Implementation Survey: Optional online survey on the implementation and use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures in hospitals.
Based on the above four pillars and their respective weights, a final source was calculated for each hospital.
