Specialized speech therapy for movement disorders
Our expert team of speech-language pathologists are certified in both LSVT® and SPEAK OUT!® and bring extensive experience in treating patients with Parkinson's and other movement disorders.
Lee Silverman Voice Treatment is a specialized therapy tailored to enhance vocal loudness, clarity and overall speech intelligibility. It's specifically designed for individuals with Parkinson's disease and has been proven effective in helping patients regain confidence in their ability to communicate verbally.
LSVT involves an intensive, structured approach to voice therapy, focusing on:
- Increasing vocal loudness without straining the voice
- Retraining the brain to recognize and produce an optimal speech volume
- Practicing speech tasks that carry over into daily communication.
The program is delivered over four weeks, typically consisting of four sessions per week. Each session is personalized, targeting you or your loved one's unique needs.
The SPEAK OUT!® program, created by Parkinson Voice Project, supports individuals with Parkinson’s and similar neurological conditions in strengthening their speech and swallowing abilities. It blends education, personalized and group therapy, daily practice at home, and ongoing support. The approach encourages patients to “speak with INTENT,” helping them shift from automatic speech to purposeful communication.
SPEAK OUT! is an ongoing process of evaluation, monitoring, and therapy, which includes individual and group speech therapy, as well as daily home practice. Patients and families meet with their SPEAK OUT! provider every 3-6 months for a re-evaluation and to adjust the treatment plan as needed.
