How uterine fibroid embolization works

Using image guidance, our interventional radiologists insert a tiny catheter into an artery in the wrist (or groin if needed) to pass narrow tubes to arteries in the uterus. They then inject tiny particles through these tubes to block the flow of blood to the fibroid. Without its blood supply, the fibroid tumor will shrink. More than one fibroid can be treated during the same procedure.

Benefits of the radial artery approach to UFE

Our team typically uses a radial artery approach to UFE - a safer, more comfortable alternative to the traditional groin access method. Performed through a small artery in the wrist, this technique allows patients to recover faster, sit upright and avoid the discomfort of prolonged bed rest after the procedure.
