Breastfeeding support
We know some moms and babies need help as they learn to breastfeed. We provide education during pregnancy and support in the hospital and after your baby’s birth.
Comprehensive breastfeeding care and counseling
All of our program’s board-certified lactation consultants are registered nurses with years of experience helping new mothers breastfeed their babies. They can assist you with:
Assessing your milk supply and infant’s intake during feeding
Cues that your baby is hungry
Getting your newborn to latch
Guidance for pumping when you return to work
How to know if your baby is getting enough milk
Low or slow weight gain concerns
Measuring baby’s weight before and after a feeding
Postpartum depression
Reconciling conflicting advice from well-meaning sources
Understanding different types of breast milk
Ways to alleviate engorgement
Ways to hold your baby while nursing
Health insurance companies may cover multiple visits with a lactation consultant with no copay or deductible. Additional breastfeeding support, counseling and breastfeeding equipment may be covered before and after birth and for as long as you nurse your baby. Please check with your insurance company to verify.
