North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center honors Jo-Ellen McCracken Hazan

Newton, NJ – On November 2, the Guidance Center hosted the 60th Anniversary Diamond & Dancing Gala at The Garden City Hotel. Over 350 guests enjoyed a spectacular celebration that raised $445,000 for the organization.

Jo-Ellen McCracken Hazan, who was born and raised in Newton NJ, was one of the evening’s honorees.  Ms. Hazan is the Past President of the Guidance Center having led the organization for a period of six and a half years. She maintains her connections to Newton where she is a member of the Newton Medical Center Foundation Board of Trustees and also serves on the C. Edward McCracken Festival of Lights committee, a Newton Medical Center community event that her father founded 22 years ago.   

North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center, founded in 1953, is the leading nonprofit children’s mental health agency on Long Island. The mission of the Guidance Center is to restore and strengthen the emotional well-being of children and families.   The Guidance Center helps families to raise healthy children and works with kids (ages 0-24) who are troubled, in trouble, or causing trouble and parents who need help in these stressful times.

Difficulties range from depression and anxiety, developmental delays and school failure, and substance abuse to family crises stemming from illness, death, trauma, and divorce.
