Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Newton, NJ – Newton Medical Center was ranked by physicians as the top mid-sized hospital in the state for the third consecutive year among hospitals with 350 beds or fewer by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., one of the nation’s most respected health care research and information companies.

Newton Medical Center, part of Atlantic Health System, is also ranked first in this category for the treatment of breast cancer and was ranked highly in several other categories. Newton Medical Center, which has 148 beds, was also highly ranked on the list for treatment of congestive heart failure; stroke; hip and knee repair; high risk pregnancy; prostate cancer; and neurological disorders.

“Physicians have spoken, and for the third year in a row, they have chosen Newton Medical Center as their mid-sized hospital of choice,” said Joe DiPaolo, president of Newton Medical Center, and vice president of Atlantic Health System.

“This recognition highlights Newton Medical Center’s high-quality medical care, state-of-the-art technology and a caring, compassionate environment, and it is especially gratifying to the skilled, dedicated members of our staff, who strive to make every day better for our patients and their families.”
