Newton, NJ – Newton Medical Center was ranked by physicians as the top mid-sized hospital in the state for the third consecutive year among hospitals with 350 beds or fewer by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., one of the nation’s most respected health care research and information companies.
Newton Medical Center, part of Atlantic Health System, is also ranked first in this category for the treatment of breast cancer and was ranked highly in several other categories. Newton Medical Center, which has 148 beds, was also highly ranked on the list for treatment of congestive heart failure; stroke; hip and knee repair; high risk pregnancy; prostate cancer; and neurological disorders.

These rankings are published in Inside Jersey magazine’s April 2014 issue. More than 2,000 licensed physicians in New Jersey participated in the online survey by Castle Connolly, which was distributed in fall 2013. Physicians cast more than 33,000 votes on the treatment of specific medical conditions and top overall hospitals in the state. The results were divided into two categories: hospitals with more than 350 beds and those with 350 beds or fewer.Newton Medical Center’s sister hospital, Morristown Medical Center, was ranked as the top hospital in the state for the fourth consecutive year in the category of hospitals with more than 350 beds.
