Atlantic Sports Health Selected as United States-Based Sports Medicine Provider for London Irish Rugby Football Club

March 15, 2016

March 15, 2016, Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Sports Health, recognized by the Atlantic and Optimus Accountable Care Organizations as a designated Sports Medicine Center of Excellence, today announced it was selected to provide medical care to the London Irish Rugby Football Club as they practiced at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center and compete at Red Bull Stadium in Harrison this past week.

Atlantic Health System, one of the largest non-profit health care organizations in New Jersey, will manage the team’s sports medicine needs, as well as provide other medical services as necessary.

“The London Irish Rugby Football Club choose Atlantic Sports Health as our United States-based healthcare provider due to their demonstrated, high-quality results on behalf of other professional sports teams,” said Brian O’Leary, medical director for the London-based London Irish team. “Knowing the medical staff at Atlantic Sports Health successfully provided expert medical care to the New York Jets allowed me to relax, safe in the knowledge that London Irish players were in great hands.”

“Atlantic Sports Health is proud to have been chosen over a number of other sports medicine programs in the tri-state area,” said Damion Martins, MD, Director of Atlantic Sports Health. “We have already demonstrated expertise in treating injuries from a host of other sports—including through our partnership with the New York Jets and New Jersey Devils, and wanted to provide this same level of service to the London Irish, especially as the sport of rugby continues to gain traction in the United States.”

Atlantic Health System owns and operates a hospital system, including four acute care hospitals and related health care facilities staffed by physicians and other medical professionals that provide emergency room, inpatient, outpatient, physical therapy and other medical services, including sports medicine services.
