Atlantic Health System Security Team Recognized by Security Magazine

Only Hospital Security Department in NJ to Place in Top 10

November 2016, Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System, a leading health care delivery system in New Jersey, was ranked 10th nationally among the largest health care security systems by Security Magazine in the national publication’s annual Top 500 ranking. Atlantic Health System was the only hospital security department in New Jersey to place in the top 10.
 
The annual release of the top 500 security departments rankings represent more than 20 markets, ranging from manufacturing, banking and casinos/hotels to Major League Baseball and the National Football League. It identifies companies that place quality over quantity.“Much larger hospital systems than ours weren’t even ranked, which shows the competitive nature of this accomplishment,” said Alan Robinson, chief security officer, and director, Protection and Security Services/Emergency Management. “The security officers who protect our employees, physicians, volunteers, students, visitors, vendors and most of all our patients deserve all the credit.”The recognition is for the Atlantic Health System security’s overall program and the cutting-edge, efficient and effective initiatives developed and implemented, particularly addressing patient and staff safety.
 
These include crisis training and exercises, as well as: NurseSafe, WorkSafe, EMTSafe and PhysicianSafe programs designed to train staff on how to address and resolve workplace violence. The Red Cell Program, which uses undercover security agents to test the organization’s security system. This program was also previously recognized by The Joint Commission as a best practice. CDT Training for the organization’s security officers to respond to and diffuse incidents involving violent individuals. Security 500 creates a reliable database for organizations to measure themselves in comparison to the performance of their colleagues. It establishes a benchmarking program among security organizations, allowing them to see where they stand in this ongoing peer-review process.
