February 21, 2017, Summit, NJ – Atlantic Health System’s Overlook Medical Center was recognized as one of ‘America’s 100 Best Hospitals’ for clinical excellence by consumer rankings group Healthgrades.® The distinction places Overlook Medical Center in the top 2 percent of hospitals in the nation for clinical performance.

The recipients of the America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™ and America’s 50 Best Hospitals Award™ stand out among the rest for overall clinical excellence across a broad spectrum of care. During the 2017 study period (2013-2015), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across at least 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).

Morristown Medical Center, also part of Atlantic Health System, was the only hospital in the state to be recognized as one of ‘America’s 50 Best Hospitals’ for the second consecutive year. The distinction places Morristown Medical Center in the top 1 percent in the nation for clinical performance. The two Atlantic Health System hospitals were the only in New Jersey out of 64 eligible hospitals in the New York-New Jersey area to make these prestigious lists.
