Renowned Breast Surgeon, Rebecca Yang, M.D., Joins Atlantic Breast Associates at Overlook Medical Center

July 25, 2018, Summit, NJ – Renowned breast surgeon, Rebecca C. Yang, M.D., has joined Atlantic Breast Associates at Overlook Medical Center and Carol G. Simon Cancer Center, part of Atlantic Health System Cancer Care. Dr. Yang, who is a board certified general surgeon and fellowship trained breast surgeon, joins Atlantic Breast Associates from her role as director of the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at Lahey Medical Center in Massachusetts.

As a full-time breast surgeon, Dr. Yang focuses exclusively on the care of women with malignant and benign breast disease with a comprehensive patient-centered approach. She has expertise in advanced surgical procedures including sentinel lymph node biopsies and nipple sparing mastectomies. She also has a strong interested in the role of integrative therapy in the management and subsequent survivorship care planning for women with a diagnosis of breast cancer. Dr. Yang is a proponent of advancing care through the participation in appropriate clinical trials.

Dr. Yang’s clinical interests include the full range of surgical procedures to treat breast cancer. She will work closely with a multi-specialty oncology team at the Carol G. Simon Cancer Centers of Overlook Medical Center and Morristown Medical Center to provide individualized and coordinated care so patients achieve the best possible outcomes. She is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Yang graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University and attended the University of Maryland School of Medicine to attain her medical degree. Dr. Yang performed her internship and residency in general surgery at Case Western Reserve University and she stayed there to achieve her fellowship in breast surgery.

Her extensive list of clinical experience includes co-authoring publications, training with some of the nation’s leading experts, and participating in meetings, conferences and symposia around the nation -- all demonstrating her commitment to continuing education and exceptional patient care. Dr. Yang has been an Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Medicine and has served as an adjunct professor of surgery at Dartmouth University Medical School.

Throughout her career, Dr. Yang has received awards and honors for her work: Patients’ Choice Awards from MDx Medical, Inc., Castle Connolly Top Doctors, US News & World Report Top Doctors, Consumer’s Research Council’s Guide to America’s Top Surgeons, and the American Cancer Society’s recognition for providing exceptional support to breast cancer patients. Dr. Yang was most recently awarded the prestigious Hope Begins Here Award in honor of her dedicated and compassionate care for patients with cancer.
