October 2018, Summit, NJ – Atlantic Health System’s Overlook Medical Center and Today’s Caregiver Magazine, the nation’s leading support, training and educational organization for family and professional caregivers, will host the 220th Fearless Caregiver Conference on Saturday, November 10 at the hospital’s Bouras Auditorium.
Caregivers throughout the region who will have an opportunity to speak directly with a panel of experts, who will share their advice and insights on aging, disability, legal, Social Security issues during the seminar and lunch.
Overlook is the home of the Thomas Glasser Caregivers Center, the only in-hospital facility of its kind in New Jersey. The center provides a tranquil environment and free support services for families managing the stress and special needs associated with caring for a critically, chronically or terminally ill loved one during a hospital stay.
The Caregivers Center hosts art, music and writing therapy workshops that are open to the public. New this year is a Qi Gong class, a practice that focuses on gentle movement, breathing, and meditation to alleviate stress and calm the mind.
“As part of our mission to be a supportive resource for caregivers in the hospital and the community, we are honored to be able to host this conference, allowing local caregivers the chance to interact face-to face with renowned experts,” said Marian Teehan, a licensed clinical social worker at the Glasser Caregivers Center.

More than 100,000 family and professional caregivers in 24 states have attended a Fearless Caregiver conference developed by Today’s Caregiver magazine and Caregiver.com. The conferences offer family and professional caregivers valuable training; teaching them, among other things, to become equal members of their loved one’s care team, develop techniques to create much needed respite, build an effective support network of family and friends, and to learn the importance of caring for themselves as they care for their loved ones.
Conference attendees will have an opportunity to also learn:
- What support is available for family caregivers
- How to financially support caregiving
- How to partner with family members
- How to ask questions of health care providers
- How to persuade a loved one to consider no longer driving themselves
- How to share information with their fellow caregivers
