Patients who suspect their respiratory distress is the result of an allergen can turn to the Atlantic Respiratory Institute for expert diagnosis and treatment. Our pulmonary specialists may perform blood tests and pulmonary function tests, or spirometry, to determine which specific allergen is causing the symptoms. Depending on results, they may prescribe medications, such as antihistamines or nasal steroids, as well as lifestyle changes to prevent flare ups and improve quality of life.
