First Aid Training

Knowing how to act in a medical crisis can mean the difference between life and death. That’s why the Atlantic Training Center offers courses in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and basic life support (BLS) for health care professionals and members of the community.

BLS for the Healthcare Provider (Initial and Renewal)

This course teaches medical professionals how to:

  • Perform CPR on adults, children and infants
  • Clear obstructed airways
  • Properly apply personal protective equipment
  • Use an automated external defibrillator (AED)

The Atlantic Training Center recommends that health care providers renew their BLS skills every two years.

HeartSaver CPR (Adult and Pediatric)

Non-health care professionals enrolled in this comprehensive certification course learn the basics of responding to an adult, child or infant in cardiac arrest. Topics include:

  • Performing CPR
  • Clearing obstructed airways
  • Using AEDs

CPR for Friends & Families

People with limited or no medical training who want to learn more about CPR can benefit from this educational program. A certification card is not provided.

American Heart Association Courses

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support

Health care professionals enhance their skills treating adults in a cardiac or cardiopulmonary emergency. This course uses simulated scenarios to provide hands-on experience as an individual, part of a team and leader of a team. Subjects include:

  • Basic life support
  • Identifying and treating ischemic chest pain and acute coronary syndromes
  • Recognizing stroke and other life-threatening symptoms
  • Resuscitation team dynamics

Pediatric Advanced Life Support

Doctors, nurses and other health care providers learn techniques to improve outcomes for critically ill children and infants. Topics include:

  • Pediatric assessment
  • Respiratory management
  • Defibrillation and synchronized cardioversion
  • Fluid administration
  • Resuscitation team dynamics
