Library Services for Staff:

Our professional staff provides a full-range of library services to hospital employees, and affiliated physicians and students, including:

  • Borrowing Materials
Books, CDs, DVDs, and audio-visual materials may be checked out during staffed hours.  Most items may be borrowed for one month; renewals are permitted. Materials can be returned during staffed library hours or placed in the book drop located outside Morristown Medical Center's library after hours.  Items can also be returned via interoffice mail.
  • Interlibrary Loan
The interlibrary loan service provides free access to journal articles and books not owned by Atlantic Health System libraries. Journal articles generally arrive within a few days, while books and other materials may take several weeks. Rush service is available, particularly for patient care issues
  • Librarian Computer Searches
Computer literature searches using major databases like MEDLINE and CINAHL are completed by our staff within 24-hours of request.
  • Computer Searching - Self-Service
Atlantic Health System physicians and employees may do their own database searches. This service is available 24-hours a day and is accessible from computer workstations in the libraries, throughout the hospitals, or via the Internet from your home or office. Staff must register with an Atlantic Health System librarian to obtain identifications and passwords for off-campus use.
  • Computer Search Instruction
Searching instruction is provided to groups of users in classes or individually with a professional librarian. Contact your hospital librarian to schedule one-on-one training or to register for a class.
  • Consumer Library Information Prescription (CLIP)
The CLIP service provides easily-understandable, current, reliable health information to patients, their families and the public. This service combines the consumer health and medical collections of the Atlantic Health System libraries with the wealth of materials available online through the National Library of Medicine. We encourage staff to utilize the CLIP service for themselves, for patients and for consumers. Anyone can ask a question via the CLIP/Ask the Hospital Librarian form.  You can also call, fax or email using the contact information below.
