Atlantic Health System’s Goryeb Children’s Hospital and Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum

As part of its commitment to supporting the fight against pediatric cancer, the New York Jets and Atlantic Health System are teaming up to provide children who are undergoing or have completed treatment at Goryeb Children's Hospital with a special draft experience. The New York Jets will also be live from the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum in New York City during day three of the NFL Draft. The museum is centered on the legendary WWII-era aircraft carrier Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark, and is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the ship’s commissioning in 2018. Each of the team’s day three selections will be announced by a special guest.

One patient at Goryeb Children’s Hospital, who cannot visit the Intrepid Museum due to treatment, will announce the team’s fourth-round selection, alongside Jets Legend Tony Richardson, by way of a VGo Robot. The VGo Robot allows children with extended illnesses, immune deficiencies and other challenges the ability to participate in social experiences remotely, from a hospital bed or home.

Additional children who are undergoing or have completed treatment will assist with announcing the Jets pick from Intrepid’s flight deck, where they will be joined by Jets Legend Marty Lyons.

The team’s fifth-round pick will be announced from Intrepid’s flight deck by Intrepid former crew member John Olivera in celebration of the ship’s 75th commissioning anniversary.

The Jets sixth-round selection will be announced on the flight deck of the Intrepid by players and coaches from the Boomer Esiason Foundation’s Empire Challenge high school all-star game. The Boomer Esiason Foundation is a partnership of leaders in the medical and business communities joining with volunteers to heighten awareness, education and quality of life for those affected by cystic fibrosis, while providing financial support to research aimed at finding a cure.

The New York Jets will host 50 fans in the Jets Inner Circle in Dallas for the first and second day of the NFL Draft.
