September 20, 2018

September 20, 2018, Morristown, NJ – The Boy Scouts of America will recognize Louis Brusco Jr., MD, FCCM, Chief Medical Officer, Morristown Medical Center, with the 2018 Health and Medical Award for his service as an exemplary role model for the youth of the Morris County area.

Dr. Brusco was chosen for his outstanding services as evidenced by the interest and leadership they have demonstrated within the community and living the ideals of the Scout Oath and Law in his daily life.

Dr. Brusco was a Boy Scout when he was younger, reaching the level of Second Class scout and being trained in Troop Leadership Development along the way—an experience he credits with his professional success. Upon accepting the role at Morristown Medical Center, Dr. Brusco started volunteering with the Boy Scouts and became involved with their STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Program, encouraging and mentoring youth to pursue professional paths in those areas, and sharing his experiences working in healthcare. His time with the Scouts yielded an enthusiastic response.

“I am incredibly humbled and honored to be recognized with the 2018 Health and Medical Award from the Boy Scouts for doing the work I love and sharing my passion for helping others and improving the health of my community with tomorrow’s leaders,” said Brusco. “I hope to inspire them the way I was inspired and made more confident during my time as a Boy Scout.”

He will be recognized at the Boy Scouts of America 2018 Health and Medical Awards Dinner on Wednesday, September 26th at the Park Avenue Club in Florham Park.

Funds raised at the ceremony will support the underserved inner city, at risk youths, living in multicultural markets of Northern and Central New Jersey. In addition, the event also supports our growing STEM, “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics” program. This initiative will offer over 80 STEM related merit badges ranging from robotics, inventing, architecture, and many more.

The Boy Scouts will also recognize Arnold Pallay, MD, FAAFP, Managing Partner at Vanguard Medical Group, and Thomas G. Scott, Regional Chief Financial Officer-New Jersey at Prime Health Services, Inc. at the event.
