November 8, 2018

Morristown, Overlook and Chilton Medical Centers Among Top Hospitals in Nation for Safety by The Leapfrog Group

November 8, 2018, Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System, an integrated health care delivery system, today announced Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center earned the highest possible safety rating of ‘A’ by The Leapfrog Group in its Fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grades. Chilton Medical Center’s ‘A’ rating is an increase from this past Spring, while Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center have maintained their top-level, ‘A’ scores. The three medical centers join 855 hospitals, nationwide, with ‘A’ grades.

“Atlantic Health System is dedicated to providing the highest quality care and service when members of our communities walk through our doors,” said Amy Perry, CEO Hospital Division, Senior Vice President, Integrated Care Delivery, Atlantic Health System. “These prestigious grades reflect the tireless commitment of our caregivers to the safety of the patients and families who trust us with their care.”

Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals, twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public. The grade is based on hospitals’ performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harm.

“Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades recognize hospitals like Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center, that focus on advancing patient safety. This ranking provides an important resource for patients, and a benchmark for hospitals, to determine how care at one hospital compares to others in a region,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an A Hospital Safety Grade deserve to be recognized for their efforts in preventing medical harm and errors.”
