Morristown, Newton and Chilton Medical Centers Among Top Hospitals in Nation for Safety by The Leapfrog Group

Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System, an integrated health care delivery system, today announced Morristown Medical Center, Newton Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center earned the highest possible safety rating of ‘A’ by The Leapfrog Group in its Spring 2019 Hospital Safety Grades. Newton Medical Center’s ‘A’ rating is an increase from this past fall, while Morristown Medical Center and Chilton Medical Center have maintained their top-level, ‘A’ scores.

“Atlantic Health System is dedicated to providing the highest quality care and service to the communities we proudly serve,” said Amy Perry, CEO Hospital Division, Senior Vice President, Integrated Care Delivery, Atlantic Health System. “These prestigious grades reflect the tireless commitment of our caregivers to the safety of the patients and families who trust us with their care each day.”

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

“To be recognized nationally as an ‘A’ hospital is an accomplishment the whole community should take pride in,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “Hospitals that earn an ‘A’ grade are making it a priority to protect patients from preventable medical harm and error. We congratulate hospital leaders, board members, staff, volunteers and clinicians who work so hard to earn this A.”
