Radiology Residency Curriculum

The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at Morristown Medical Center and Overlook Medical Center offers residents significant experience through its strong clinical rotations, which include dedicated time covering all of the imaging modalities and subspecialties. Residents get supervised hands-on time doing interventional radiology (IR) procedures, as well as procedures in the body, neuroradiology, breast imaging, nuclear medicine, and musculoskeletal departments.

Residents also benefit from significant didactic learning, which occurs directly from teacher to student. This includes at least two formal teaching conferences per day — morning and lunch conferences. Our didactic conference schedule ensures that all major subspecialty topics are covered in depth and that residents receive thorough instruction in preparation both for the boards and for a career in radiology.

Residents also benefit from multidisciplinary and multi-departmental conferences throughout the hospital system, including various Grand Rounds guest speakers, joint conferences with urology and emergency medicine, morbidity and mortality, and participation in tumor board case reviews throughout the hospital.

Three months of board review lectures are provided by faculty for the R3 residents leading up to the American Board of Radiology exam.

Additionally, the hospital physics department provides a physics curriculum and lecture series during the R2 and R3 years.
