Siddharth (Sid) Bhesania, MD
PGY-4 ChiefAfter graduating from Smt. B. K. Shah Medical Institute & Research Centre I completed a Master’s Degree in Public Health focusing on epidemiology and biostatistics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mt. Sinai. I later took on the role of research assistant and IT/Data Science Coordinator at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
On completing my Internal Medicine training at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, I joined Overlook Medical Center in July 2021 as a PGY-4 Chief Medical resident to further develop my administrative skills. I chose Overlook Medical Center because I genuinely enjoyed meeting everyone during my interview and felt that this would be the right place to gain experience while receiving exceptional mentorship. As a PGY-4 Chief Resident, I coordinate all resident schedules, didactics, and board review series.
I represent our house staff on several hospital committees, including the Critical Care Committee, the Intermediate Care Committee, and the Wellness Committee. As a junior faculty member, I enjoy supervising residents in the inpatient and outpatient settings and keep my clinical skills active by working designated weeks as a hospitalist.
My academic interests include research education in medicine, board preparation for residents, and transitions of care. I plan to pursue a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology, work in academic medicine and remain involved as program faculty. In my free time, I remain engaged in various research projects across many disciplines of medicine. A top priority is spending time with my family, traveling, and listening to music.

PGY-3 ChiefI was born and raised in Silicon Valley, California and obtained my Bachelor of Science at the University of California - Irvine. I was heavily involved in my father’s internal medicine practice, and inspired by my father, I pursued medicine and graduated from St. George’s University Medical School. Rotating at Overlook Medical Center as a medical student, I admired the camaraderie among the residents, and I am grateful for the opportunity to complete my residency here.
As I enter my final year, it is a privilege to serve as one of the PGY3 co-chiefs. As a co-chief, my goal is to improve our residents’ educational experience and support their growth. I advocate for our residents and serve as a liaison between them and our program leadership. My career pursuits include practicing medicine in such a way that incorporates my interests in administration, leadership, and academia. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my friends and colleagues, reconnecting with my family back at home, and trying new restaurants.

PGY-3 ChiefI grew up in Trinidad and Tobago and attended St. George's University School of Medicine in Grenada, WI, which allowed me to stay close to home while fulfilling my goal of coming to the United States for my clinical training. I distinctly remember the warmth and caring I felt during the first second of my interview at Overlook Medical Center.
The hospital has become my second home, with the opportunity to learn from caring and supportive mentors. As residents, we experience a wide range of clinical conditions and pathology. With our proximity to major cities like Newark, and our outpatient center's location, we have a unique opportunity to serve an incredibly diverse and vulnerable population. I pride myself on being selected as a Chief Resident among such a hardworking and dedicated resident group. I look forward to contributing to this program that has given me so much, especially the support for resident and student education. After this year, I plan to pursue a fellowship in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine. When not at work, I enjoy spending my time watching soccer and doing mixed martial arts.
