Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center Named a Best Hospital by NurseJournal.org

August 26, 2021

Hospital recognized for clinical performance and workplace quality

August 26, 2021, Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System’s Morristown Medical Center offers one of the best environments for hospital nurses in the nation according to NurseJournal.org, a leading website for nursing education and resources.

This week Morristown Medical Center was named to NurseJournal’s list of “The Best Hospitals for Nurses 2021”.

Along with mentioning Morristown Medical Center’s Magnet® recognition status from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and various national recognitions for clinical expertise across numerous specialties, NurseJournal celebrated the “shared governance style of decision-making, which gives more responsibility to bedside nurses,” in place across all Atlantic Health System medical centers.

“Nurses across all of Atlantic Health System come to work every day committed to providing extraordinary care and exceptional patient outcomes,” said Trish O’Keefe, PhD, RN, Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive, Atlantic Health System and President, Morristown Medical Center. “This tremendous honor is an acknowledgement of our commitment to empowering and developing all of our nurses so they can perform at their very best, in a supportive and nurturing environment.”

Earning a place on the list is based on four pieces of data that NurseJournal says impact nursing care and nursing satisfaction: hospital ratings, mortality measures, nursing communication, and staff responsiveness. According to NurseJournal’s website: “All hospitals are not the same. Those with strong healthcare teams, positive patient outcomes, effective lines of communication, and innovative nursing policies can improve your job satisfaction and open the door to professional development.”

Atlantic Health System’s workplace culture has received numerous awards including 13 consecutive years on Great Place to Work® and Fortune’s list of the “100 Best Companies to Work For®,” Modern Healthcare’s list of the “Best Places to Work in Healthcare”, and this honor from NurseJournal, which comes only weeks after U.S. News & World Report reaffirmed Morristown Medical Center’s number one ranking in New Jersey as part of its annual Best Hospital rankings.
