Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Aquatic Physical Therapy

Exercising in water puts lets strain on the joints and muscles – a key benefit for patients with arthritis or other musculoskeletal conditions that make it painful to be physically active. That’s why Atlantic Rehabilitation offers aquatic physical therapy services in a safe, comfortable atmosphere.

Treatment begins with a thorough evaluation on land by a physical therapist. Based on the results, he or she will develop an individualized program aimed at achieving specific patient goals. Exercises may consist of simple swimming strokes with resistance gradually increased using paddles or weights to achieve optimal strength, balance, circulation, sensation and motor control.

Our pool is kept at a warm 92 degrees, is handicap accessible and only three to four feet deep, so that even those who cannot swim or are afraid of the water can participate. We also offer convenient locker rooms with dressing, bathroom and shower facilities.

Patients who may benefit from aquatic therapy include those with:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sprains or strains
  • Athletic injuries
  • Medically stable fractures
  • Sports specific training
  • Pre or post-surgery status
  • Deconditioned status
  • Pre and post natal status
  • Gait dysfunction
