October 1, 2019

Honorees recognized for commitment and dedication to patients and communities

Morristown, NJ – When Charles Carlisle, Jr. began working at Atlantic Health System, gas was $.35 a gallon, the minimum wage was $1.60, and “Sesame Street” made its debut on PBS. It was 1969. This October, Charles, a sterile processing technician at Overlook Medical Center, is celebrating his 50th year with the award-winning health care system.

“When I first joined, I didn’t realize I would be here for 50 years, but every day, I work next to amazing coworkers who feel like family,” said Charles. “I’ve seen a lot of changes through the years, but one thing that remains the same is everyone’s dedication to our patients and I’m proud to work at Atlantic Health System.”

Atlantic Health Celebrating Service award ceremony

Charles, and more than 1,100 Atlantic Health team members reaching milestone anniversaries in 2019 (every five years from 10-50 years) were honored at the company’s annual “Celebrating Service” event, held at the Venetian in Garfield. Together, they have more than 21,335 years of combined service.

“The dedication and compassion Atlantic Health System team members have for our patients, our communities and each other is part of what makes it a great place to work and we are honored to celebrate their achievements,” said Nikki Sumpter, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Atlantic Health System. “Our caregivers give so much of themselves every day and we are grateful to Charles and all of our team members who make Atlantic Health System part of their career journey.”
