Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the second most common type of cancer in men in the United States, with approximately one in every six being diagnosed during his lifetime. The good news is that when detected early, survival rates are close to 100 percent.

At Atlantic Health System Cancer Care, we not only provide the highest quality care, but also guide and support you throughout your treatment.

Prostate Cancer Diagnosis

Men experiencing prostate issues may receive a prostate specific antigen (PSA) test and digital rectal exam (DRE). If PSA levels are elevated or something suspicious is found on a DRE, a trans-rectal ultrasound-guided (TRUS) biopsy is usually ordered.

UroNav Fusion Biopsy System

Overlook Medical Center offers next generation technology that has significant improvements over TRUS biopsies and enhances our ability to diagnose, stage and treat prostate cancer. The UroNav Fusion Biopsy System marries magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with ultrasound to produce 3-D, real-time images of the prostate. This improved imaging prevents the biopsy needle from missing the tumor, which sometimes happens with TRUS biopsies, and provides the most accurate results.
