Cardiac Stress Tests

Atlantic Health System Heart Care at Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center, Newton Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center and Hackettstown Medical Center offers a variety of stress tests, including:

  • Cardiopulmonary metabolic exercise stress testing (CMET) – a non-invasive procedure used to check heart, lungs and functional capacity simultaneously, providing more comprehensive data than the standard treadmill stress test
  • Exercise stress test (treadmill testing) – monitors blood pressure and heart activity while walking on a treadmill at different levels of intensity, indicating how the heart responds to different levels of exertion and whether an EKG changes during exercise
  • SPECT  – uses SPECT technology to image the heart during exercise or pharmacologic stress testing
  • PET/CT– uses PET/CT technology to image the heart during exercise or pharmacologic stress testing
  • MRI – uses MRI to image the heart during pharmacologic stress testing
  • Stress echocardiography - uses echocardiography to image the heart during exercise or pharmacologic stress testing
