Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Stress Testing

Atlantic Health System Heart Care at Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center, Newton Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center and Hackettstown Medical Center offers a variety of stress tests, including:

  • Cardiopulmonary metabolic exercise stress testing (CMET) – a non-invasive procedure used to check heart, lungs and functional capacity simultaneously, providing more comprehensive data than the standard treadmill stress test
  • Exercise stress test (treadmill testing) – monitors blood pressure and heart activity while walking on a treadmill at different levels of intensity, indicating how the heart responds to different levels of exertion and whether an EKG changes during exercise
  • Pharmaceutical stress testing – uses medicines rather than exercise to determine if the heart is functioning properly
  • Isotope stress test (nuclear stress test) – uses a radioactive isotope injected intravenously to measure blood flow to the heart during exercise

Heart care services may vary by location. Please confirm when booking an appointment.
