Treatments are tailored to the individual patient’s needs, and will be discussed with the provider in clinic.

Epilepsy Treatment Options

Anti-seizure medications
– Epilepsy is often managed with anticonvulsant medication.
Epilepsy surgery
– Resective surgery traditionally offers the best seizure-free outcomes for patients with focal epilepsy and an identifiable structural lesion
Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT)
– A minimally invasive option for patients with focal epilepsy, utilizing targeted laser therapy for thermal ablation in the radiology suite
Vagus Nerve Stimulation
– VNS Therapy (TM) involves implantation of an FDA-approved device for the treatment of medically intractable epilepsy
Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS®)
– RNS System is the first and only medical device that can monitor and respond to brain activity. The RNS System monitors and responds to brain activity, such as seizures
Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS therapy)
– Involves implanting electrodes within certain areas of the brain. These electrodes produce electrical impulses.
