Pediatric headaches can present in many forms – migraine, tension-type or cluster – and may occur intermittently or on a daily basis. They are most commonly caused by colds, the flu and sinus infections, but some may be the result of trauma or genetic predisposition.

To determine the specific type of headache and rule out any underlying causes, parents can turn to Goryeb Children’s Hospital’s Headache Program for expert care. In fact, ours is the only one in New Jersey with a headache board-certified pediatric neurologist. As part of Atlantic Health System Children’s Health, physician services are provided through Atlantic Medical Group and are on staff at Goryeb Children’s Hospital.
Diagnosis consists of a complete medical history and neurological examination, followed by any appropriate laboratory work and neurological imaging. Treatment for headaches may include lifestyle and stress management, biobehavioral techniques, nutritional supplements and medication.
