Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Clinical Pastoral Education

Theological students, lay people and clergy of all faiths (pastors, priests, ministers, rabbis and imams) can undertake Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) at Overlook Medical Center in Summit, NJ.

A regional leader in CPE training for 55 years, the Overlook Medical Clinical Pastoral Education Program is accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education. Our interfaith, graduate-level professional educational program prepares participants to provide support to patients and their families in a hospital setting. More than 550 students have completed our Level I, Level II and Supervisory CPE training.

We offer three types of programming:

  • A 32-week Extended Unit from September through May
  • Two Modified 16-week Units, one in the fall and one in the spring
  • An 11-week Summer Intensive Unit
