Atlantic Rehabilitation at Union Campus opens its doors to a larger space with the latest technology
In its newly expanded space, Atlantic Rehabilitation at Overlook Medical Center Union Campus is delivering even more of the high-quality, personalized care for which it is known. At 4,000 square feet, the redesigned physical therapy center has doubled its previous capacity and now can provide even better access to care.
The recent expansion of Overlook Medical Center Union Campus to include Atlantic Medical Group Primary Care at Union – as well as numerous specialists and such ancillary services as a fully operational Emergency Department, radiology, infusion and a full-service lab – helped to spur the Atlantic Rehabilitation extension. “The expansion at Union Campus necessitated the expansion in physical therapy,” says April Goncalves, PT, DPT, supervisor of Atlantic Rehab Union. “We’re able to accommodate more patients and keep up with the demand from the addition of Atlantic Medical Group practices in the building and within the community.”
The team of physical therapists at Atlantic Rehab Union treats a variety of conditions, including general orthopedic injury, postoperative care, post-concussion management, post-stroke care and neurological conditions. The center has 15 treatment tables and a variety of rehabilitative equipment, such as stationary bikes and various forms of resistive training. The center also features the cutting-edge AlterG® Anti-Gravity Treadmill™, developed with NASA technology, for anyone who might have pain with full weightbearing activity. With the AlterG, rehabilitation can begin sooner regardless of limited mobility or weight-bearing restrictions. Goncalves reports that in coming months, Atlantic Rehab Union will offer occupational therapy in addition to physical therapy.
