Atlantic Health System’s Kevin Lenahan Named “CFO to Know” by Becker’s Hospital Review

July 22, 2019

Lenahan also appeared on Becker’s list in 2017 and 2018

Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System Senior Vice President and Chief Financial and Administrative Officer Kevin Lenahan has again been lauded by industry heavyweight Becker’s Healthcare for his financial leadership of the 17,000-employee health system.

Becker’s Hospital Review named Lenahan one of 106 hospital and health system “CFOs to Know” in its 2019 annual list of top performers. Previous lists in 2017 and 2018, which also featured Lenahan, included 150 top CFOs. The annual list is culled from CFOs nationwide who lead financial departments at large health systems and smaller community hospitals alike. All nominees must go through an application process to be chosen.

Lenahan has helped Atlantic Health System grow to more than $2.7 billion in annual revenue since becoming CFO in 2010. In addition to its five hospitals and one pediatric hospital, Atlantic Health System encompasses Atlantic Home Care and Hospice, At Home Medical, Atlantic Ambulance Corp., and AHS Investment Corp., which manages most of the system’s real estate and joint ventures. Lenahan also presides over AHS Insurance, Ltd., the organization’s captive insurance company.

Under Lenahan’s leadership, Atlantic Health System maintained its S&P AA bond rating in 2018, which is the highest rating given to a healthcare system in New Jersey. It also maintained its Moody’s AA3 rating after being the first healthcare system in New Jersey to receive one.

“Kevin’s leadership has been instrumental in helping our team thrive in the fast-changing health care environment,” said Atlantic Health System President and CEO Brian Gragnolati. “Thanks to his unique insight and talent, we’ve forged innovative alliances and invested in cutting-edge technology and facilities that support the highest quality care for our patients and communities. We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor.”

Lenahan, a fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association, has received several other leadership awards, including a corporate leadership award from STOMP Out Bullying, a CFO Excellence Award from CFO Studio and CFO of the Year from NJBIZ.
