Unique Partnership with College County of Morris Offers College Credit

Morristown, NJ – Atlantic Health System recently celebrated an inspiring group of team members who graduated from the health care system’s Career Readiness Program, a unique partnership with County College of Morris (CCM) that provides team members college credits and lessons on computer basics, workplace communications, and life management skills to provide a solid foundation in the healthcare industry. Atlantic Health System is one of the largest health care systems in New Jersey, with five medical centers, a children’s hospital and over 400 sites of care.

“We are focused on providing the workforce of today the skills and foundation they will need to be part of the workforce of tomorrow,” said Nikki Sumpter, Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Atlantic Health System. “Education is the gift that keeps giving. Our partnership with the County College of Morris enables us to offer programs that help team members not only realize their goals, but achieve them in a welcoming, supportive and inclusive environment.”

"We were so excited to partner with Atlantic Health System this year to bring this unique program to their team members,” said Patrick Enright, Associate Vice President for Workforce Development for County College of Morris. “CCM is proud to help these students complete the next step in their career journey.”

“Going back to school has always been something I wanted to do, but my family and life situation would always seem to get in the way,” said Elaine Clayborn, team member and graduate. “I am so grateful to have had the opportunity with Atlantic Health System to make it happen for me and the rest of my graduating class.”

The six-month program is a unique and complimentary benefit offered to team members who are just starting their careers or may have taken a path that didn’t provide the opportunity to go to college.

This is just one of the many unique benefits Atlantic Health System offers. Recently, the organization began offering a 529 college savings plan to team members and has plans to offer a way to help team members pay down student loan debt.

Earlier this year, Atlantic Health achieved 11 consecutive years on Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For list, along with Fortune’s Best Workplace in Health Care and BioPharma list, and each of its medical centers were given environmental sustainability awards from Practice Greenhealth. In addition, Atlantic Health’s medical centers have earned recognitions for clinical excellence from organizations including Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, Healthgrades, the Leapfrog Group, Becker’s Hospital Review and Castle Connolly.
