Wait times represent the average estimated length of time from registration to being assigned a "first provider" (a doctor, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Times displayed for Atlantic Health Systems are:

  • Reported as an average of wait times for the previous 2 hours of patients that have presented to the emergency department and have been seen by a provider
  • Refreshed at least every 15 minutes

Many circumstances can affect wait times - for example, patients arriving by ambulance or with life-threatening injuries or illnesses. Patients with severe conditions will be seen before those with less-serious problems or ailments. These times are provided for informational purposes only and cannot be guaranteed upon arrival.

Acute Care Rehabilitation at Our Hospitals

In the event of a major injury, surgery or illness, each of Atlantic Health System’s hospitals – Morristown Medical Center, Overlook Medical Center, Newton Medical Center, Chilton Medical Center, Hackettstown Medical Center and Goryeb Children’s Hospital – provide expert inpatient rehabilitation services, as referred by the patient’s physician.

Our highly-experienced teams of physical, occupational and speech therapists collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers and other caregivers in early functional recovery. Through precise evaluation and individualized care plans, they provide patients with the first step towards an independent and pain-free lifestyle.

Treatment at this stage may include functional training, strengthening and positioning exercises, neuromuscular re-education, cognitive and communication training, diet management, and assistive device recommendations, as well as patient and family education.

What’s more, we can assist in choosing rehabilitation services after the hospital stay is over.
